The Bloxvox is a new invention that tackles the challenge of making private phone calls in public environments. It’s being advertised as a hands-free voice privacy tool designed for use with a pair of headphones.

And this isn’t the first of its kind. A similar product called the HushMe is another voice muffling contraption that now has competition. The difference is, the Bloxvox is more compact, and as previously mentioned, will work with headphones that aren’t specifically designed for the device. There is a small hole for air in the front of the mask, that has been understandably compared to the one worn by the Batman villain Bane, played by Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises.
It’s an interesting product, in that, its appeal extends beyond the user and to anyone potentially affected by their activity. As smartphones have become more prominent, the noise issues connected to them have also increased. As odd as the Bloxvox looks, it works quite well, according to the video, and can be applied to a variety of situations. Beyond its actual application, it’s already producing some hilarious responses online.

The Kickstarter campaign is targeting the office environment, but surely any public place, like a coffee shop or restaurant, could use a little more quiet. The price is $50 per unit, unless they’re bought in bulk, but because it’s a crowdfunding campaign the initial investment might not actually yield a consumer product.
