It was a normal weekday afternoon at one of America’s most popular shopping clubs. The SoDo Costco in Seattle was busy, but not so busy that a Loss Prevention officer couldn’t recognize a man who had previously stolen from the same location, as well as another Costco earlier that day. South Precinct officers were immediately called and given the full rundown.
The employee not only identified the robber but also knew how he was going to try to get away. The LPO told the police that the man had previously escaped out of the fire exit, so that’s exactly where the officers went to wait. When they arrived they instantly spotted the getaway driver, which wasn’t too hard. The 18-year-old girl was sitting with a black Toyota backed up to the emergency doors.
A couple cops confronted her while others stood right outside of the store, and they didn’t have to wait long. In almost no time at all the two suspects, a 30-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, emerged with $2,200 in stolen computers and vacuum cleaners and were caught red-handed. They were even greeted with a very polite “Hey buddy!” from one of the officers, while the others laughed at the easy apprehension.
A weapon was found in the search but hadn't been used at any point in the attempt. The man, who was carrying the knife with a 7-inch blade, was booked for investigation of robbery while the two women were booked for investigation of theft. The alleged thieves have not been identified. The entire arrest was captured on police body cams and uploaded to the internet. Watch the video below to see the incident unfold...
