The Most Expensive Hotel Room In America
The suite at the Mark Hotel in the Upper East Side of New York City is located on both the 16th and 17th floors. It’s 10,000 square feet and has five bedrooms and six bathrooms. Designed by Jacques Grange during a massive interior remodeling, the suite now comes with a price tag of $75,000, making it the most expensive hotel room in America.
The Mark was built in 1927 and was renovated between 2006 and 2009 with design help from Grange. There are four bedrooms and two fireplaces. The grand living has 26-foot ceilings and can be converted into a ballroom. It spills out into a 2,500-square-foot rooftop terrace that overlooks Central Park. Now, it’s finally available for guests.
When it came to pricing the suite, the hotel used its biggest competitor’s most comparable room. The Ty Warner penthouse inside the Four Seasons is a little less than half its size, at 4,500 square feet, and only has one bedroom. Aside from its four terraces, it doesn’t offer nearly as much as the suite at the Mark, but still goes for $50,000.
There’s also the Plaza’s similarly sized, three-bedroom Royal Suite which runs for $40,000, and the Mandarin Oriental’s Suite 5000 that costs $36,000. It’s a little smaller than the last two, at 3,300 square feet, and has two bedrooms and a contemporary art collection. The Mark’s much more expensive suite offers a full service experience, which they say justifies the high price tag.
Guests have access to the hotel’s renowned restaurant, shoeshines, a sailboat, bicycles, pedicabs, and essentially anything else they could possibly need during their stay. Check out the video below to see the rest of the suite…
