Deep down, we like to imagine that action movie stars are really just as soft as we are when the cameras aren’t rolling. Tom Hardy is not, apparently, one of those A-listers who’s all velvet robes and pool parties offscreen. Two London thieves received swift justice when they attempted to steal Hardy’s moped.
Eyewitnesses report seeing two men jump onto Hardy’s moped and speed off with it. Also speeding off was Hardy himself, who sprinted after them. Panicked, the thieves crashed the moped into an expensive Mercedes and then fled on foot. It wasn’t long before Hardy took one of them down like an angry grizzly.
Hardy picked one of the thieves and chased him through the streets and a garden. He then leapt onto him, took him to the ground and yelled “I’ve caught the c**t!”
Tom Hardy then brought the thief into a nearby bus station and took his ID while waiting for the cops to arrive. “The little shit nicked something, and now he’s got himself a broken leg,” he drolly remarked to a bystander.
“It was mental – like he’d switched into superhero mode in an action movie,” says an eyewitness named Arun Pullen. “Tom must have been furious walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious. If the kid had been dumb enough to resist, I reckon Tom would have given him a good hiding.” Pullen says the thief “looked wrecked and in shock.”
The cops eventually caught up with the other thief and brought him in. The story seems almost too good to be true. Arun Pullen’s girlfriend was also there, and said of what she saw, “I’m a big Tom Hardy fan, and there was no mistaking him. He looked as mad as he does on telly.”
Tom Hardy, in addition to being one of the most celebrated movie stars in the world, is also apparently a certified badass. It’s hard to imagine Stallone or Schwarzenegger bringing this level of heat in their everyday lives. In fact, considering how much money Hardy makes, it doesn’t even make that much sense why he would risk being potentially stabbed or shot to recover a piece of his property. But sometimes, a man just has his limits.
You can catch Tom Hardy in his upcoming projects “being your worst god damned nightmare” and “taking out the god damned trash (you).”
