In a scene taken right out of an American Pie movie, a guy named Ben Byrne has made arrangements to marry two identical twins. The twins, who were once named “the world’s most identical twins” when facial recognition software failed to tell them apart, are both already dating him and sleeping in the same bed together.
They met Byrne on Facebook five years ago. They are all planning to fly to Tuscon, Arizona to tie a three-way knot.
Anna and Lucy DeCinque are Australian, thirty years old, and popular on social media. They announced their engagement on YouTube, saying, “We’ve been with him for five years so he’s twinning and winning… We do want to marry the same man and his name is Ben.”
Although polygamy is on the books as illegal in Arizona, it has no punishment associated with it. Many polygamists travel there to conduct technically illegal marriages.
“And now we’ve been thinking, how is this going to work?” The twins continued. “Many debate, is it possible? Can it really work? I don’t really know. … We’ve actually heard in Tuscon you can get married.”
Earlier this year, they admitted on a morning TV show that they both sleep with him at the same time.
“We’re in the mood at the same time. He’s a lucky guy. He needs double the energy, he gets double the love and double the attention.”
“We’re not hurting anyone and it makes us happy. We’re always going to be together. Because we’re with each other 24/7 of our lives it’s so much easier to share a boyfriend.”
Appropriately enough, the groom is also a twin, though a fraternal one.
The three also have plans to produce children.
“If I got pregnant,” says Anna,” Lucy would definitely get pregnant straight away — because our bodies need to be the same.”
“We would try to make that happen, definitely. We are not trying right now — we love children and kids love us, but it’s not the time for us.”
“We would have to be exactly the same — even if we went through IVF at the same time.”
The twins are reported to have spent an incredible £130,000 ($160,266 USD) on plastic surgery to make themselves look completely identical.
It is definitely one of the stranger unions to have been made public. Some people are jealous, others are disgusted. Still others are a little bit of both. Somebody get them a reality TV deal.
