The Hong Kong division of Kentucky Fried Chicken has won the advertising game with these amazing images. They essentially replaced smoke and fire with their new Hot & Spicy chicken in what is one of this year’s most creative marketing ploys. If the hunger you’re feeling as a result of looking at what basically appears to be flames is a little confusing, don’t worry, you’re not alone.

This campaign is an attention grabber that's going viral all over the world. The pictures are genuinely appealing as both an interesting strategy and a legitimate ad for the product. Fried chicken has been very popular lately, with the world-wide explosion of Nashville hot chicken, which uses a generous portion of cayenne pepper, to the mega-popular YouTube series Hot Ones, which pits its host and celebrities against some of the hottest wings known to man.

KFC has been having a lot of fun with marketing over the years by switching up the performer behind the Colonel. The original was played by a man named Harland Sanders, who founded the restaurant and patented its fried chicken recipe. All of the Colonels who followed have mirrored his classic look. Darrell Hammond and Norm Macdonald from SNL, comedians Rob Riggle, Rob Lowe, and Jim Gaffigan, actors John Goodman, Vincent Kartheiser, Billy Zane, Ray Liota and George Hamilton, wrester Dolph Ziggler, and even country singer Reba McEntire, who is the first female to play the role, have appeared in their commercials.
