Billionaire Richard Branson invited Barack and Michelle Obama to come hang out at his private Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, as a post-politics vacation.

Branson said he wanted to introduce the former president to the sport of kitesurfing. The pair set-up a gentleman's challenge to see who is more skilled on the water.

Branson said, "Barack started learning to kitesurf on the beach on Necker for two days solid, picking up the basics and flying a kite as if going back to being a child again. Then he went into the water, standing up and getting a feel for the kite. Finally, he put the board at his feet and gave it a go. Being the former president of America, there was lots of security around, but Barack was able to really relax and get into it."

"We were neck and neck until the last run on the last day, when I got up on the foilboard and screamed along for over 50 meters, three feet above the water. I was feeling very pleased with myself, only to look over and see Barack go 100 meters on his kiteboard! I had to doff my cap to him and celebrate his victory," Branson said.

This trip to the Caribbean comes after the Obamas spent several days at a former U.S. Ambassador's home in Rancho Mirage, CA near Palm Springs.

While there, Obama got to partake in his favorite recreational pasttime—golf.

In between rounds, the family stayed in an 11,000 square foot compound in a quiet, desert community. The property included a tennis court, swimming pool, a nine-car garage, and guesthouse.

There are rumors that the Obama family might eventually purchase the home which would sell in the $9-million range, but analysts are concerned it won't satisfy the stringent security requirements for former presidents. Although the home sits on an expanse of 8 acres, it's also positioned near a road.

Mr. Obama wouldn't be the first president to live near Palm Springs. President Gerald Ford and his wife Betty moved to Rancho Mirage in 1977 after leaving the White Office, which was made possible thanks to the purchase of a nearby property for their Secret Service detail. If this issue of security gets sorted out, expect the Obamas to make this desert oasis their home as well.
